Are Publishers Willing To Sponsor Students For Travel So The Student May Write An Article In Return?
I’m a highschool student, who’s had a taste of Japan and desperately wants more, soon. I want to spend my summer break in Japan, studying language. My mother (who doesn’t want to pay for it, which is fair) suggested getting a sponsor from a magazine (or publisher) to write an article, take pictures, or write short stories etc, for them and finance my stay that way. I would write about differences in culture, the language, describe the country and make recommendations on things to see, and I’m also a skilled artist who could create illustrations, etc. Does anyone know of a magazine/publication or publisher that may do this or is there anyone who has experience as a travel writer who could inform me on these things? Any advice is welcomed.
It would be extremely tough to find a publication that would be willing to put up that much money in order to finance a trip by a high school writer. Not many publications would do it for a top professional writer, especially in this economy. They would prefer to just find someone already there.
hell no… what is wrong with you.
you think some company is going to put up thousands of dollars to pay for your flight and accommodations for a few dinky articles…. especially when you are just a highschool student with no published experience, no following, and no credential…
i could license an article for 50 bucks from credible writers so why should anyone pay you?
